I made it!
Mar. 16th, 2011 09:51 pmSo, we got up to go for gas and...there was none. lol
We decided to leave anyway, so Peter drove us to Iwaki Station and we took the only bus leaving Iwaki and went to Fukushima airport. The highways are closed so we took the back roads. There I was able to get some money from the "cash service" and we took 2 taxis to Nasushibara in the Tochigi (the next prefecture over) to get the bullet train to Tokyo. The taxi ride was long and cost over 200 dollars, but split between all of us worked out to about $60 each.
I sat in the front seat because of my back and talked with the taxi driver the entire way there. He found out that I'm SGI (Soka Gakkai International, my religion) and he is too and was completely thrilled and very happy to meet me! lol At one point he asked if we had eaten yet today and I told him I had had a banana for breakfast and he gave me his bagged lunch (3 bananas and some bread). When we arrived at Nasushibara station he gave me a bead braclet that he or someone in his family made. wow!
He also pointed out interesting places to me on the way. It was an interesting ride.
We got our tickets for the bullet train and then went to get our seats. We only had to wait 35 minutes until the train left and we still had to buy tickets. So we didn:t have long to wait at all. The toilet on the train was luxurious! It wonderful!
On the way to Tokyo, about halfway there, there was an earthquake. A 6.0 in Chiba. The train shutdown on the tracks. Apparently they are made to slow to a stop and shut down if they detect an earthquake. So we sat on the track for 20 minutes waiting for the train to come back online and to get the go ahead to continue to Tokyo.
At the station I grabbed lunch wtih Susan and then had dessert with Susan, Sara and Stephanie. Then I went on my way to Aya's. I left the house in Iwaki at 6*15 and arrived at Aya:s at 6pm. Her dad picked me up at the station.
Tokyo is having scheduled black outs that last for about 3 horus. Tonight:s was only 2 hours and started about 20 minutes after I got there. This computer screen keeps scrolling to the top while I:m writing so I can:t really see what I'm doing. Also the keys are in different places so there are some weird things going on..sorry.
Dinner was nice. We had tempura, rice, salad and soup and I was given a piece of home made chocolate cake/.
I don:t get a shower tonight, but I can have a bath. I:m looking forward to that! Ican:t wait to get clean. Ok, this is getting worse...going to stop here.
Have a goodday everyone!
