I'm currently sitting in a cat cafe.  A really neat little place that looks like someone's apartment and is full of cats.  It's $12 an hour and the drinks and cookies are free and you can play with the cats and use the internet and watch tv as much as you want while you are here.  It's pretty cool.
There are a dozen cats.  It's good for people who love cats but don't or can't have one of their own.

So yesterday I took the train to Tokyo with Sam, Chelsea and Susan.  We got to Ueno and spent the morning at the zoo.  The zoo is so big that we didn't even get to see half of it before we had to leave to get the train to Mitaka so that we could go to the Ghibli Museum.  We got Mitaka and wandered around a bit and found this beautiful park.  We walked through the park and I got some nice pictures.  It's the end of November and it's still rather warm and the trees are just starting to change colours now.  Today I'm not even wearing my sweater...

After the park we went to our 4:00 tour at the Ghibli museum.  We got to watch a short movie and then we had free reign of the place to explore at our leisure.  There were 3 floors and an outside garden and restaurant and stuff on the roof. It was really amazing.  The walls were covered in conceptual drawings from all the different movies.  We went up an old iron spiral staircase to the roof and there was a big robot from the Movie Laputa.  I took so many pictures this weekend.

After the museum we got our bags from the lockers at the station and took off to find our hostel in Asakusa.  We stayed at the Sakura Hotel and we had a 2 bunk room.  These bunks were much more comfortable than the ones at the Sakura hotel in Ikebukuro.  anyway, we dropped our bags off at the hotel and went out to see the new Harry Potter movie in Ikebukuro.  The movie started at 9 and we didn't get out of there until 11:35.  We got lucky and caught the last subway train back to Asakusa.  Any later and we would have had to take a taxi.

Despite the wonderful beds, I didn't get to sleep until after 4am do to snoring....and I was up a few times to go to the bathroom...which was outside (litterally) and down the hall. lol    So today I'm tired.  First stop today is the Cat cafe, next will be lunch I think, then we are going back to Ueno park so I can go to the museum of science, technology and nature where they have the wonderful, amazing Theatre 360!  I can't wait to go back!    After that we will probably head home.

We still have 30 minutes left in our visit at the cat cafe, so I will go annoy some cats now. lol

I really miss living in Tokyo. Iwaki is nice, but it's so small and slow in comparison.  I always have a good time in Tokyo.

Oh Lisa! You are SO lucky! I wish I could visit the Ghibli museum... How did you find the new HP movie? Will you be posting the park photos?

Hey Matt!
All photos are up on facebook. I'm sure you'll recognise a bunch from the museum. Has the new Ghibli Movie been announce in Canada yet? It's called the Borrowers...or Arrietta...or something like that. in Japanese it's called "Karigurashi no Ariettei" . you can see the preview on youtube. the music is fantastic. I bought the soundtrack at the museum. I'll burn you a copy if you like. Lots of Irish/Celtic influences to it. It's soft and beautiful. l like to listen to it to study or relax.

Sure mom! I'll buy a blank CD to burn it and I'll mail it to you. You should get it some time next week. The week after at the latest. I'm going to try to down load the singer's other album. Her name is Cécile Corbel.

Here`s a link to one of the songs on the album. she`s singing Japanese in this verstion. but there is an english version too if you look for it. She sings in a bunch of different languages! She`s amazing

SHe has French songs, English songs and this one is Japanese because it`s a Ghibli movie that is made in Japan.

Glad you're having fun! I have no idea what the Ghibli Museum is...

The Cat Cafe sounds interesting! They don't allow that in America...no animals where food or drink is served.

Have more fun!

hey!

Gome just after 7 tonight. early enough to do a load of laundry and relax before bed. lol

The cat cafe was more like a small apartment. It was all set up for the cats, all the cookies were individually wrapped and the drinks were all from a vending machine. It wasn't a real cafe. Check out the pictures on facebook. The album is called Trip to Tokyo. It was neat. Basically you go there to play with the cats and you can have whatever you want to drinnk from the vending machines for free. lol

The Ghibli Museum is a museum dedicated to all the Miyazaki movies. Princess Mononoke, Kiki's delivery service, Spirited Away, Ponyo, Castle in the Sky: Laputa, Whispers of the Heart and so many more! You can watch the trailers at Youtube. again, check out the pictures on FB. It was awesome!!!

Harry Potter was great too!

I'm off to bed now...don't feel tired..but I know I am. Didn't get to sleep until 4 this morning due to snoring! lol Then I was up at 7:30 to go to the bathroom, then I was up for good around 9. weird dreams to for the last bit. so need a good night's sleep tonight. I hope I get it! Tomorrow I think I'll be home by 6pm. I need to cook stuff before it goes bad! So we should be able to chat afterall...I'll be home around 1am your time...I think.

You addict! You couldn't wait to update until we got home? I wondered what you were doing :P

Should I buy nose strips for Susan when we go traveling next month? lol. I'm so tired right now. Bed time soon -.-zzz

Iwaki's like the best of both worlds! We get the relaxed pace of the suburbs and have access to most things, but can go to Tokyo and get city life when we want it (and have the money to)! And look on the bright side- you save more money living here than in the most expensive city in the world :P

HAHAHAH!!!
Actually, I was thinking that if I waited to get home to do it all, then I wouldn't actually do it. I haven't updated yet about the rest of the trip... too lazy. might finish it tonight and add a few pictures. lol

Iwaki is the best of both worlds. I hope I get to stay here next year. I'm all down for moving again if I have to, but I like my place and I'm still in the process of getting it the way I like it. And after spending so much time and effort on it, I don't want to have to start from scratch again so soon.

I like that I live in the middle of "nowhere" but can get to "somewhere" easily enough. It's good.

Send me the link for the Mito Bus to Narita please? lol and we should talk about Sumo and stuff next time we hang out. Are you coming over tomorrow with Sam?

I probably won't update about the trip until later in the week, haha.

I think we'll all be fine with staying in Iwaki, but some people may have to move to different parts of the city/take JHS positions.

Bus: http://www.ibako.co.jp/bus/hwbus/roseliner-e/roseliner-e.htm

Sumo is January 22nd, like I thought. It seems like the tournament will be over by the evening, but the website doesn't have exact times. Either way, if you want to go that weekend, we can stay somewhere together that night and go to the Science Museum the following day.

Possibly! I probably can't stay very long, but I can probably come over for lunch. I guess we'll talk in the morning about the time.
